In education, we may feel like a ship without a rudder, or a plane without the navigator. Better yet, cereal and no spoon. Leadership merged with visionary leadership should be at the forefront of progressive education. As we reflect on our practice and think about the conversations around us, ask yourself this question:
- Have I witnessed the bar being lowered for students? If so, what was the rational behind the decision?
- Are we making decisions for students because of their potential for learning or chasing a grade point average?
- As educators, are we developing the values needed to be successful and persevere in our students? When we do, how can we sustain and build on that foundation?
- What direction are we headed as a building, community, student body, etc? For character? Motivation? Academics? Etc.
